Weekly Message–November 18-29, 2019

Good Evening SCS Families. This is Ms. Price with your weekly message for the weeks of November 18 and 25.

We have scheduled three sessions with A+ Test Prep for our juniors to assist them in preparation for the upcoming ACT. The first of these sessions is Wednesday in the Cybrary. Students may find their assigned time by checking the High School Resource Wall or checking with any of their teachers. The other sessions are December 4 and January 29.

Join us Thursday, November 21 at 5:00 p.m. for a General PTSA meeting and our 1st Mobile Pantry. The Mobile Pantry program provides farmer’s market-style distribution where families choose to take what they need at no cost. Volunteers are needed to help with food distribution. Contact ptsa4scs@gmail.com. All are welcome to attend.

Students in grades 7 and 11 are or will be taking a survey regarding school climate and the overall learning environment at our school.  Ms. Shelly’s classes started last week, and Ms. Stefan’s classes will begin this week. The purpose of this survey is to help our school learn more about the school’s climate and safety and to help make our school better along with supporting student success.  Please encourage your child to take the survey seriously and answer questions honestly.  Thank you for your help and support with our Student Climate Survey.

The Student PTSA has partnered with Meals on Wheels for the 2019 holiday season. We invite you to join us at SCS on Tuesday, November 19 and Tuesday, December 10 from 4:30pm to 5:30pm to make sandwiches. On December 10, we will also put together winter care packages. Good Evening SCS Families. This is Ms. Price with your weekly message for the week of November 11.

School will be closed tomorrow in honor of Veterans Day, which is a tribute to all those military veterans who have served in the United States armed forces. Remember that you may enter in any of the following categories: dance, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts. The theme this year is “Look Within”.  The student gallery art event to show off all of the entries will be held Friday, November 15 at 6:00 p.m. We look forward to seeing you there!

With many of our Duke Students leaving campus and heading home for Thanksgiving, Duke Football is looking to fill our student section with local students and their families for the November 30th game vs. Miami (Time TBD) at Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium. Their families and friends can also purchase significantly discounted tickets for only $14. Parking is also free for all fans in our general public lots.  All the students and their families have to do is visit www.GoDuke.com/BeAStudent to register.
