New Announcements for Students

The first prom committee meeting will take place TODAY during high school lunch in the health room. If you have any questions, please see Coach Barnes.


Juniors & Seniors: Prom will be here before you know it! You don’t want to miss out on these superb ticket prices before the first intersession!

Seniors will be $40.00 until September 20.

Juniors will be $55.00 until September 20.

All guests will be $65.00 and all tickets will go up to this price after intersession. See Coach Barnes or Ms. Street for questions.


The Robotics Club information session will be held Tuesday, August 6 until 5:15 p.m. in Room 401. Parents and students must RSVP to Ms. Williams. Light refreshments will be served. Robotics Club dues will be $30 per student (Cash, Check, or USPS Money order only).  There are only 20 seats available.


Recurring Announcements for Students

All seniors with late arrival or early release, make sure you enter and exit the building at your assigned time EVERYDAY! Failure to arrive and leave at your assigned time will result in you being assigned to a class on campus.


Any student who drives to school this year must see Ms. Sparks to purchase a parking decal. Without your parking decal, you are at risk of being towed. You must have your decal by August 1, 2019.


TODAY is our first PTSA Dine-out event and it’s at Elmo’s Diner on Ninth Street. Elmo’s is open 6:30 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. We get 10% of the proceeds to plan important programs about social issues that impact you so please go have a good meal at Elmo’s tomorrow.


Come to the Battle of the Books Club interest meeting TODAY!  High school Battle of the Books will meet at lunch and middle school will meet afterschool until 5:00 p.m. Both meet in the Cybrary. See Ms. Street with questions.


Are you ready to get your roll on, better yet, are you ready to get your skate on? Well on Friday, August 9 from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m., meet YMA at Wheels Skate Park for the first Skate Wars of the year. This event is open to all your family and friends. The cost is only $7. Middle schoolers—the class that shows up with the most students, family & friends will get into the back to school dance for $2.00.  See Coach Barnes for more information.


Hello SCS Staff and Students—The Fall 2019 Running/Walking Club will start Monday, August 5 from 4:15 – 5:00 p.m. in the Health Room (Room 527) with Ms. Sims. Information such as the schedule, parent information and race selection will be discussed and distributed. If you want to stay in shape and have fun, come out for this club!


Karaoke Friday is back this week during your lunch! If you have a favorite song you wish to sing, we want to hear you sing it! You don’t have to be the best singer to participate. It cost $2.00 to sing a song or to request one. All proceeds go towards the junior/senior prom.


We are going to Canada in Spring 2020. There will be an interest meeting TODAY from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Cybrary. Details will be provided including price, travel itinerary, dates, expectations, etc. If you are unable to attend, please contact Ms. Sims.


Attention all Students – This is your friendly reminder that now is the time to shut off your phones and keep them out of sight.  Do not make use of your phones until afterschool.  Thank you.


Students are reminded that you must be at your bus stop 10 minutes before the scheduled pick up time, and that bus drivers cannot wait on students who are not in the pickup area at the time the bus pulls up.


Attention all middle school students:  Come One, Come All! Please join MathCounts! The interest meeting is Thursday, August 1 from 8:00 – 8:30 a.m. in room 209, Ms. Long’s room.


There will be an interest meeting for Young Women of Excellence on Monday, August 5 until 5:15 p.m. in Ms. Lewis’ room (COPE room 108).  High school young ladies, if you are interested in learning more about leadership, college prep, sisterhood, mentorship and more, please come!


Keep our Earth healthy!  Students and staff are reminded to recycle and terra-cycle using the available bins in the front lobby and the cafeteria. Students remember to collect your items from lunch and recycle them too! Some example items for collection are:

All brands of snack plastic pouch & caps

Baby and toddler food pouches and pouch caps

Entenmann’s Little Bites and Little Bites Snackin’ Bites plastic pouches

Any seniors who would like to request late arrival or early release, please pick up a form in the front office and return it to Ms. Settle. You must follow your current schedule until your request is approved.


Teachers: Do NOT take attendance in PowerSchool for any period. Please take homeroom attendance on the rosters that were placed in your box on Friday. You may send a student with the homeroom attendance rosters to the main office no later than 9:30 a.m. each day. We will do this for the first ten days of school. Again, no attendance at all should be taken in PowerSchool for any period. Ms. Fleming will send out an email when you are clear to begin taking attendance in PowerSchool.
