Seniors will be $40.00 until September 20.

Juniors will be $55.00 until September 20.

The Robotics Club information session will be held Tuesday, August 6 until 5:15 p.m. in Room 401. Parents and students must RSVP to Ms. Williams. Light refreshments will be served. Robotics Club dues will be $30 per student (Cash, Check, or USPS Money order only).  There are only 20 seats available.

Karaoke Friday is back this week during your lunch! If you have a favorite song you wish to sing, we want to hear you sing it! You don’t have to be the best singer to participate. It cost $2.00 to sing a song or to request one. All proceeds go towards the junior/senior prom.

Weekly Message–July 29-August 2, 2019

Good Evening SCS Families. This is Ms. Price with your weekly message for the week of July 29.

Friday in homeroom, your student received a copy of the Durham Public Schools Student/Family Handbook 2019-20.  We are excited to share this informational tool with students and their families.  Students received an overview of the document and detailed instruction on the Code of Conduct. We request that parents and guardians review the document as well and include your student in the process as it will give your student an opportunity to be a leader in sharing important information with you.  After reviewing the handbook, please sign the Verification of Receipt and Review form with your child.  The form should be returned to your child’s homeroom teacher.

All students entering 7th grade are required to have proof of receiving one dose each of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) and Meningococcal vaccines by NC state law.  Proof must be submitted to the school within 30 days of enrollment in 7th grade. Failure to provide proof may result in suspension by state law. All families of our rising 7th graders, please don’t wait; contact your healthcare provider or send your student’s record now.

Attention AIG parents:

Your invitation to the annual meeting was sent home with your child Monday, July 22.  So far, 69% have been returned from middle school students and 20% from high school students.  Please ask your child for this document and we look forward to seeing you on August 8 at 5:30 PM in the cafeteria.

High school parents.  The fee waiver forms are now available for the 2019-2020 school year.  If your child is enrolled in an AP course, is planning to take the PSAT, SAT, or ACT this school year, it is important that we have this document on file.  The fee to take any of these exams can cost as much as $125 and your child may be eligible for a price reduction.  Forms are available from your child’s AP teacher, Ms. Settle or Dr. Tuck Thomas.  Forms should be returned by August 12, 2019.

Good Evening SCS Families. This is Ms. Price with your weekly message for the week of July 22.

We’re looking forward to seeing all of our students for the first day of school tomorrow, Monday, July 22.  School begins at 9:00 a.m. and drop-off begins at 8:30 a.m. in the carpool line at the front of the school.  Maps are posted on the website to explain how carpool works for new families.

Our PTSA President, Ms. Tanisha Davis, and Vice-President, Ms. Aja Purnell-Mitchell, are ready to lead our dynamic parent, teacher and student group this year. They need your help! We have openings on the Board for a chairperson of the Audit Committee and representatives for School Improvement Team. There are many other ways to get involved also. AIG parents: The annual AIG meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, August 8 in the cafeteria. We will send the invitations home with your child Monday, July 22. Please sign and return the entire sheet.
