Students, if you signed up to take AP Art History next year, please see Dr. Rathbone during lunch in room 120 to pick up your summer assignment. If you are interested in the course but didn’t sign up, it is not too late. See Dr. Rathbone.
Keep our Earth healthy! Students & staff are reminded to recycle & terra-cycle using the available bins in the front lobby and the cafeteria. Students remember to collect your items from lunch and recycle them too! Some example items for collection are:
All brands of snack plastic pouch & caps
Baby and toddler food pouches and pouch caps
Entenmann’s Little Bites and Little Bites Snackin’ Bites plastic pouches

There will be a YMA & Jr. YMA meeting this Wednesday, May 22. This is required for all members. Important information about the banquet will be given.
Attention all basketball players: the Student vs. Staff basketball game will be held June 5 & 6. High school on June 5 and middle school June 6. If you would like to sign-up and play, see Coach Barnes. The deadline is May 31.
Recurring Announcements for Students
Please be aware that you may begin to see course requests for next school year in your online PowerSchool account. These classes that you see are REQUESTS ONLY for 2019-2020, and these classes are NOT your official school schedule for next year. Official schedules will not be available until our scheduled open house for school year 19-20. Your course requests have been submitted and are being entered in PowerSchool, but again, these requests are NOT your schedule. Please do not come to the counselors or the main office with questions about this being your schedule. IT IS NOT YOUR SCHEDULE.
Students interested in taking AP Biology next year: There will be a mandatory informational meeting next Tuesday, May 21, during lunch. We will discuss the course content and goals. Bring your questions!
It’s time for Bull City Coachella and the SCS Grammy Awards. Tuesday, May 21, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Rhythms Live—Durham & the Triangle’s hottest elegant venue for live performance. Special guest Jamal Thompson, producer associated with P. Diddy and others will present awards.
Seniors, it’s time to sign up for Project Graduation Night. Flyers are posted on the High School Resource Wall as well as available for pick up in the main office. You must register for this FREE event by May 31 to attend.
The 5th Annual YMA Banquet will be held Friday, May 31 from 7:00 to 10:30 p.m. at The Durham Armory downtown. The cost for students and staff is $15.00. There will be good food and a lot of dancing. Please see Coach Barnes or any YMA member for more information.
