Weekly Message–September 10-14, 2018

Good Evening SCS Families. This is Ms. Price with your weekly message for the week of September 10.

If you haven’t had dinner tonight, it’s not too late to support our PTSA and dine at Texas Roadhouse until 10:oo p.m.  Remember to take your flyer with you. The flyer is located on the website.

Student Ambassadors are leaders and representatives of our school. They must be students who routinely model the 4C’s and the Habits of Mind as well as strong character. Students in the program will engage in leadership development and gain skills that benefit them in college and in work.  All HS students are invited to apply for SCS Student Ambassadors through the online application. The deadline is September 14th. If you have questions, see Dr. Rathbone.

Select high school students were given letters regarding Gryphon Grind, our upcoming intersession academic program. Gryphon Grind will operate September 24 – October 4, Monday – Thursday each week from 9:00 – 1:00 and will provide students with an opportunity to review and strengthen their academic skills. Transportation, breakfast and lunch will be provided.  Final notices for students who need to attend will be sent on September 14. If you have questions about Gryphon Grind, contact Mr. Richardson.

The Annual AIG Parent night was held on August 30 and DEP’s were distributed for signatures. For parents who did not attend this event, the invitation to conference and DEP’s will be sent home with report cards in October. We are required to maintain these documents in students’ AIG files. If you have any questions, contact Ms. Tuck Thomas.

Mark your calendars for our next PTSA Dine Out Event at Makus Empanadas at the Hwy 54 location September 17 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Make sure you mention you’re there for SCS SPIRIT NIGHT and 10% of your purchase will be donated to our PTSA.

We look forward to seeing everyone September 18 5:30 – 6:30 for an evening of information! We will have a PTSA meeting and you may attend sessions including College Night, Instructional Supports, Identifying Depression, Emily K Center, and Understanding the School Report Card. Snacks will be served.

Keep in mind some important upcoming dates—Wednesday, September 19 is a PLC Early Release Day and school will be dismissed at 2:00 p.m. The end of the 1st quarter is Friday, September 21. Intersession dates are September 24 – October 12. Students return to school to begin the 2nd quarter on October 15.

Have a great evening from everyone at SCS where we practice the 4 C’s—Creativity, Communication, Collaboration, and Community.
