New  Announcements

The Sunshine Committee would like to thank all of the SCS Staff members who submitted pictures for the SCS Teacher/Staff Contest. Here are the winners:

Soccer Club will NOT meet this week.


Basketball Club will NOT meet this week.


The 4th Annual YMA Banquet will be held on Saturday, June 2 at 2:00 p.m. The location is Edison Johnson Park & Recreational Gym. The cost of the banquet is $25. See Coach Barnes for more details.


There will be a very brief Prom Committee meeting for this year’s prom committee only on Tuesday during high school lunch.

Any interested students who would like to join the Prom Committee for 2018-2019, need to see Coach Barnes before the end of the week.


YWE meeting will be held on Thursday, May 17 in Ms. Wiggins’ classroom until 5:00 p.m. See you there!


Aviation Club members: Please plan to attend a meeting afterschool tomorrow until 5:00 p.m. The room location will be announced tomorrow.


Bull City Coachella/Grammy’s Live Concert SCS Music will be held on May 22 5:30 – 7:15 p.m. Awards will be given for rapper, producer, artist, sound engineer, song writer of the year, and more!


Recurring  Announcements

Any seniors who plan to attend Project Graduation on June 13 at the Durham Convention Center, please register online using the link posted at several locations throughout the school. If you have any questions about the event, please see Ms. Settle.


Rising Juniors and Seniors who would like to attend the participate in the CCP program at Durham Tech for fall of 2018, please see the registration information posted on the High School resource wall and in Student Services on Mrs. Settle’s door. The last mandatory Connection Session will be held on Monday, May 14 from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. for interested students at Durham Tech.


Keep our Earth healthy! Students & staff are reminded to recycle & terra-cycle using the available bins in the front lobby and the cafeteria.

Seniors: Please continue to turn in your college acceptance letters to Ms. Settle. If you do not want your information announced or displayed, inform her when you turn in your acceptance information. If you have received financial aid award letter or scholarship information, please turn in that also. Also, Ms. Settle is receiving new scholarship opportunities. Don’t miss out on this FREE money.


It’s that time of year again—PBIS Celebration! The PBIS motto is GUARD and in order to attend you must follow the principles of GUARD. Your behavior determines if you can attend. If you receive detention or suspension you will not be able to attend.
