We are teaming up with Barnes & Noble Southpoint again this year for annual Winter Bookfair on Friday, December 8th.  Join us beginning at 7:00 p.m. for performances by Rock Band, Guitar Class, Digital and Live Production classes, Dance and Art Clubs.  We will also have student artwork displayed.  We will send home vouchers next week. Present these vouchers when you shop between December 8 and 13, and a portion of your purchases will be donated back to our PTSA.

The SCS Yearbook for 2017-2018 is now for sale.  Yearbooks can be purchased in the form of check, cash or online.  All purchases made by January 31, 2018 will receive the discounted rate of $35.  For an additional $5, you can have your yearbook personalized.  The ordering envelopes have been passed out.  See the envelope for more details for check and online purchases.

Good Evening SCS Families. This is Ms. Price with your weekly message for the week of November 27, 2017.

We would like to welcome Dr. Pascual Mubenga who begins his first day as our new superintendent of Durham Public Schools tomorrow.

The Young Women of Excellence (YWE) will host a Hispanic Cultural Event, here at SCS, Tuesday, December 5th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. More details will follow. Please plan to attend!

Mark your calendars for our next PLC Early Release Day on Wednesday, December 6th. School will be dismissed at 2:00 p.m.

Parents/Guardians of the Class of 2018 –Would you like to congratulate your son/daughter for his/her achievements?  If so, consider purchasing a personal ad for your child in this year’s yearbook.  The cost is $25 for 1/8 page ad, $50 for 1/4 page ad, $75 for 1/2 page ad and $125 for a full-page ad.   Details on how to place your order have been sent home with students.  Contact Ms. Bridges if you have any questions.

If you are taking any of the DPS Virtual Spanish courses online and are interested in getting free tutoring help for these courses, please see Mr. Castro in room 244 TODAY to express your interest and sign up for tutoring sessions for these courses. The administration and Mr. Castro would like to start a Saturday Academy to meet on those Saturdays when school will be open. We will meet from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. You must organize your own transportation if you want to participate and make sure you are picked up no later than 12:00 p.m. Once again, show your interest and sign up with Mr. Castro TODAY.
