Anything that appears to be disruptive will need to be changed. If students have questions about the appropriateness of their costume, they should check with an administrator in advance or bring a change of clothes with them on Tuesday.

You’ve been waiting for it and it’s here…the PTSA Spirit Wear sale is right around the corner. Look for information to come home soon and make sure you get your orders in by the deadline!

Our first SCS blood drive is next Wednesday, November 1st, 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Help us reach our goal of 100 pints of blood. In addition to all the other great reasons to give blood, SCS will earn scholarship money for our students for each pint donated. Please tell your neighbors, friends, family, and coworkers! Mrs. Settle is having a high school parent night on November 7th.  9th -10th grade parents should arrive at 5:30 with the meeting concluding at 6pm to discuss high school graduation requirements and to begin with college planning. 11th -12th grade parents should arrive at 6:15 with meeting concluding at 7pm to discuss financial aid, residency determination, and general college preparation information.  This is an important evening of information and we hope to see all high school parents in attendance.

To High School Parents: Members of the military will be coming to SCS on the afternoon of Thursday, November 9th, 2017.  High School students will come home with the consent form on Monday, October 30th. Please be on the look out for the form and return it to the school by Wednesday, November 8th. Students will not be allowed to speak with the representatives without the consent form. Phone call and email permissions will not be accepted, and we must have the list of participating students in advance of the event. Please adhere to the deadline of November 8th. If you have any questions please contact Ms. Settle.

We will send home a paper survey this week from PTSA so students can give us feedback about our Boxtops Collection Campaign. Please encourage students to return these because we want to hear from them. PTSA also wants to hear from parents, so an electronic survey is being launched this week for you! The link will be placed on the website, Facebook, and my blog.

Today is the 2nd day of Red Ribbon Week.  Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco, and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign observed annually in October in the United States. “Just Say No” was an advertising campaign, part of the U.S. “War on Drugs”, prevalent during the 1980’s and early 1990’s, to discourage children from engaging in illegal recreational drug use by offering various ways of saying no.  The slogan was created and championed by First Lady Nancy Reagan during her husband’s presidency. How many ways can you think of to “just say no”?
