Weekly Message–July 17-21, 2017

Good Evening SCS Families. This is Ms. Price with your weekly message for the week of July 17, 2017.

Welcome back to the opening of the 2017-2018 school year! We know that students are excited and anxious about the first day of school. We will have staff members and volunteers available to assist students with getting to their classes when they arrive and assisting them with changing classes throughout the day. For students who have bus questions, we will call students at designated times to work out any bus issues and communicate with parents to ensure that all students know their transportation arrangements. For students who have scheduling issues, we will have staff members available to assist them also. Our goal is to make sure that students have as smooth an opening as possible!

For parents who will be dropping off in morning carpool, please pull into the front parking lot and keep right. Drop off at the front of the building. Students may be dropped off 8:30 or later. Students are tardy if not in class at 9:00 a.m. When entering the lot for afternoon carpool traffic, enter the front parking lot from Hamlin Rd. High school students are picked up in the front of the school, and middle school students are picked up on the left side of the school. Mornings are usually not hectic, but there is a long line in the afternoons, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation in moving traffic along to minimize everyone’s time in line. Please do not enter or exit through the bus lot during carpool. For the safety of our students, we need to use the bus lot only for bus traffic. Forms to apply for free and reduced lunch forms may be picked up in the cafeteria. Remember that you must complete these forms at the beginning of each school year.

This is a reminder to 7th grade parents that August 15th is the last date to provide us with your updated immunization records for your child. Students entering 7th grade are now required to have the Tdap and meningococcal vaccines.

Please mark your calendars for our Annual Curriculum Night and General PTSA Meeting on August 8th from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. This will be our first PTSA meeting of the year and you will have an opportunity to follow your child’s schedule and meet all the teachers to hear about their plans for the school year.

Students must have paid their $35 technology fee and returned their signed technology agreement before being issued a laptop. Teachers will explain and distribute the technology agreement this week. The Technology Handbook can be found online at the SCS website. If you would like a hard copy, please notify your child’s homeroom teacher.
