Good Evening SCS Families. This is Ms. Price with your Weekly Message for the week of April 24, 2017.
Report cards went home with students on Friday. Please review all of the information that was included in the report card envelope and make sure that your child returns the signed envelope on Monday.
SCS Pomodoro Spirit Day is Tuesday, April 25. Pomodoro’s will donate a percentage of the entire day’s sales to SCS. You do not need a flyer for SCS to get credit for your purchases. Please have lunch or dinner at Pomodoro’s on Tuesday and support our PTSA.
This week is National Sleep Awareness Week. Our school nurse, Nurse Snyder, has provided sleep tips especially for our middle school students. Students should listen for the daily tip during morning announcements and we’ll post them to our Facebook page for parents.
You received an order form for the PTSA spring spirit wear sale in your report card envelope. See the flyer for more details and get your order in for the new t-shirt design. We will also be selling senior t-shirts. Those details were also included with your report card.
All students in grade 7 through high school have received the Passive Parent Permission slip to participate in the Comprehensive Health Education presentation that will be conducted by the Durham Health Department on May 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 8th, 2017. If you have questions, please contact Ms. Sims.
We’d like to welcome back Ms. Taylor who will return on Monday, May 1st.
Attention all AP students. AP exams are coming up soon—the first two weeks in May. If your AP exam is scheduled for 8:00AM, you must arrive by 7:45AM to be seated. You must be here on the day you are scheduled. There are no make-ups for these exams and SCS does not provide transportation. Please mark your calendars and make transportation arrangements now.
We’re excited to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week May 1st-5th. Help us celebrate our wonderful staff by participating in our Teacher Appreciation Week activities. Wednesday, May 3rd is our Staff Appreciation Breakfast and donations are needed. The Staff Appreciation Luncheon is on Thursday, May 4th and we need parents to help us supervise lunches so teachers can have a duty free lunch. On Friday, May 5th, we are holding a staff Egg Hunt and need prizes. Look for the emailed Sign-up Genius links and the flyer in the report card envelopes to see how you can contribute.
BoxTops are due Friday May 19th. This will be the last collection of the year.
Parents of 6th graders: Please take note of immunization requirements that will impact rising 7th grade students. Students entering 7th grade are now required to have one dose of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccine and one dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine for individuals who have not already received those vaccines.
Please contact your health care provider or local health department if your child needs these vaccines. You will have 30 calendar days from the first day of school to provide the required up-to-date immunization record for your child. Send in your child’s shot record after receiving these immunizations so that we can update our information. Additional information was sent home with report cards.
Have a great evening from all of us at SCS where we practice the 4c’s—Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, and Community.
