Good Evening SCS Families. This is Ms. Price with your Weekly Message for the week of February 20, 2017.

This week, the final ACT prep meeting will be Monday after school NOT Tuesday until 5:30pm.  This is your last chance to practice before the ACT. The ACT will be administered to all Juniors on Tuesday, February 28th. Please be prepared by bringing a snack and arriving on time on that date.

February is Black History Month and Young Women of Excellence is excited to celebrate with you all again this year! Monday, February 20th we invite everyone to dress up as a figure in African American History.  African American scholars, innovators, artists, activists, and designers have probably contributed more than you think to modern American Society.  We can’t wait to see which one you show up as on Monday!  We will also be hosting a Black History Month Showcase on Tuesday, February 21st from 5-7 p.m.  Tickets are $3.  Join us for music, song, dance, and poetry or share something of your own during our open mic segment.

We are offering targeted afterschool tutoring to identified students in Math 7, Math I, and Biology to start on February 27th. Transportation is available. Remember to return your permission forms. Please contact Ms. Ellison or me if you have questions.

AP students were provided with the Bulletin for AP Students and Parents when report cards went home. CollegeBoard has strict testing requirements and we must adhere to them in order for students to receive proper credit. The AP Bulletin provides families with the dates and times of exams that have been predetermined by CollegeBoard.  Any student who is enrolled in an AP course and is scheduled to take an exam at 8:00 AM, must make arrangements for transportation and arrive at SCS by 7:45 AM to be seated.  Please start preparing for this prior to the May exams.

Attention all high school students!  Are you interested in a two-week residential program sponsored by DUKE TIP?  If so, please see Mrs. Tuck Thomas for a brochure.  The deadline to apply is February 27, 2017 and financial assistance is available.
