Weekly Message–August 1-5, 2016

Good Evening SCS Families. This is Ms. Price with your weekly message for the week of August 1, 2016.

We are still processing students’ Schedule Change Request Forms. Students will be notified if their request is approved or not approved. We hope to have all changes complete by mid-week. If you have any questions regarding schedules, please contact your guidance counselor or me.

Our Back to School Spirit Wear sale ends Wednesday! Make sure you turn in your order forms!

As you know, The School for Creative Studies will send off it’s first senior class this spring! Over the course of the year we will host several senior focused events and initiatives to ensure every student in the senior class has a post-graduation plan. This past week, Mrs. Brown, high school counselor, and Ms. Huth, college advisor, went into classrooms to begin talking to your students about their college options. This week, Monday – Wednesday, they will meet with each senior individually to discuss their plans and goals. Thursday evening we ask that families join us at 6:00PM to find out how to support your students through this transition and receive important information on funding higher education, upcoming deadlines, and sending your student to the perfect school for them. A Spanish translator will be present for Spanish speaking families and light refreshments will be provided.

The Annual AIG Parent Meeting is August 9th with two time options available. You may choose to attend 11:00 – 12:00 or 5:30 -6:15.   Please contact Ms. Tuck Thomas with any questions.

There will be an interest/registration meeting for anyone who would like more information about the EF tour to Greece during the spring intersession on Wednesday, August 10th at 6:00 p.m in the Cybrary. The trip is 9 days and is open to 7th through 12th graders.  Space is limited, so don’t hesitate to get signed up. If you are unable to attend, please contact Ms. Wash.

Please mark your calendars for our Annual Curriculum Night and General PTSA Meeting on August 11th from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. This is our first PTSA meeting of the year and afterwards, you will have an opportunity to follow your child’s schedule to meet the teachers and hear about their plans for the school year.

School Picture Day is August 30th. Order forms will be coming home with students this week. Senior portraits will also be taken on this date.

Have a great evening from all of us at SCS where we practice the 4c’s—Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, and Community.

Weekly Message–July 18-22, 2016

Good Evening SCS Families. This is Ms. Price with your weekly message for the week of July 18, 2016.

Welcome back to the opening of the 2016-17 school year! We know that students are excited and anxious about the first day of school. We will have staff members and student ambassadors available to assist students with getting to their classes when they arrive and assisting them with changing classes throughout the day. For students who have bus questions, we will call students at designated times to work out any bus issues and communicate with parents to ensure that all students know their transportation arrangements. For students who have scheduling issues, we will have staff members available to assist them also. Our goal is to make sure that students have as smooth an opening as possible!

For parents who will be dropping off in carpool, please pull into the front parking lot and follow the directions of the staff members on duty. Mornings are usually not hectic, but there is a long line in the afternoons and we appreciate your patience and cooperation in moving traffic along to minimize everyone’s time in line.

Elmo’s Diner First Tuesday Event is scheduled for July 19th. This is an honor for SCS, as Elmo’s is very selective and we had to apply for the slot. We hope to see you at Elmo’s diner on July 19th where a portion of the proceeds will be donated back to our PTSA. http://elmosdiner.com/
