New immunization requirements for seventh grade students

On July 1, new vaccine requirements went into effect, aligning North Carolina requirements with the current Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommendations. Students entering 7th grade will be required to have one dose each of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) and meningococcal vaccines if they have not previously received these vaccines. Clinics will be held Aug. 17 for year-round students at Rogers-Herr Middle and The School for Creative Studies and for traditional calendar students on Sept. 21, 1-6 p.m. at the Durham County Department of Public Health. Parents may also schedule an appointment at the Child Health Assessment Prevention Program operating at Oak Grove Elementary by calling 919-560-2327.

  1. We’ve had the immunizations. (How) Do we need to provide SCS with paperwork, or can you access the records?

    1. The nurse should be able to access the records from the state database, but to be on the safe side, if you could send us a copy from your doctor’s office that would be great. You may fax, scan through email or send a hard copy to the main office.
