Weekly Message May 26-May 29, 2015

Testing continues through June 1st.  Please refer to the testing schedule that was sent home with progress reports to see when your child tests. Please remember to get plenty of rest each night and eat a good breakfast each morning. Students may eat breakfast in our cafeteria free! Students are also reminded to layer their clothing. Some rooms may be too cool or too warm for them.

The Advanced Academics Department is currently accepting applications for Credit by Demonstrated Mastery (CDM) which is a process for earning credit for a high school course by demonstrating a deep understanding of the content without course enrollment or seat time.  CDM applications are due to schools by May 29, 2015.   To learn more about CDM and download a student application, please visit http://cia.dpsnc.net/cdm. The SCS contact for this process is Ms. Tuck Thomas.

The last day of school for students is June 11th and we will dismiss students at 2:00 p.m.

A big thank you and congratulations to our 2015-2016 PTSA Executive Board: Pam Gaines, middle and high school parent, will serve as our president; Lesley Neely, parent of an incoming sixth grader,  will serve as our vice-president; Michele Vincent, parent of two middle schoolers and SCS teacher, will serve as our treasurer; and Leslie Stanfield, parent of two high schoolers, will serve as our secretary. There is still an opportunity to serve on a PTSA Committee. Please visit the SCS PTSA webpage and contact one of the board members or the main office for more information.
