A group of SCS teachers and students in partnership with Sister Cities of Durham will be traveling to our sister city, Zhuzhou China in October, 2015. There are a few student seats still available. Students must be a current 8th, 9th, or 10th grader and must meet academic and behavioral criteria. A non-refundable deposit is due June 1st and students must have a passport or completed an application for one by that date. DPS continues to offer the Saturday Academy for High School EOC courses. The remaining dates are May 9 and 16 from 9-12 at Durham School of the Arts. This program provides additional support and instruction for Biology, English II and Math I. Transportation is provided and students must register online in advance at dpsnc.net. Teacher Appreciation Week runs through Friday. PTSA is sponsoring a SCS Teacher Appreciation Breakfast on Wednesday May 6th between 8 and 11. Please sign up to provide items. You may sign up using the sign-up genius on our website, Facebook page, or my blog. Items can be dropped off at the office prior to Wednesday morning and dropped off in the workroom across from the Cybrary on Wednesday morning. Let’s show our teachers and support staff how much we appreciate all that they do for our children!!
The 10th grade students would like to invite you to our first annual International Festival for SCS as a community celebration of local and world cultures. Please mark your calendars for the Honor Roll/Perfect Attendance Program on May 12th at 9:30 a.m. Students will receive invitations this week if they should attend. Parents are invited also.
Our Annual SCS Fest will be held May 19th at 6:30. We will begin with our last General PTSA meeting of the year and then have an opportunity to see all of the amazing projects our students have created.
