Weekly Message February 23-27, 2015

Good Evening SCS Families. This is Ms. Price with your weekly message for the week of February 23rd.

Although SCS College Week has been rescheduled for April 13-17, this Friday, February 27, 2015 select 7th, 8th and 9th grade students will still visit the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a part of the Tar Heel Outreach Program (UNC TOP). All students participating in the field trip should arrive at SCS no later than 8:50 for an on-time departure at 9 am.

Ms. Street will take a team of middle school students to the DPS Battle of the Books competition on Wednesday.  Let’s wish our Battle of the Books team our best!  They’ve worked hard all year, so I know that they will do a fabulous job in representing SCS.

Our next scheduled Saturday Academy session will be Saturday, March 7th from 9-noon. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Ellison.

We are excited to be one of the schools selected to pilot a new real-time bus tracking program for our families. The transportation parent portal allows parents, guardians, or other designated members of your household to get real-time access to your child’s bus location at any time during the morning or afternoon bus route. There is no cost to participate in this program and transportation information can be found in real-time from any internet connected computer, phone or tablet. Letters will be coming home with your child this week with a link to instructions and account setup if you would like to participate. We welcome your feedback as you utilize this new tracking program so that we can relay this information to DPS Transportation in hopes of making it a permanent tool available to our families.

It was great to be back in school today!  Have a wonderful week from all of us at SCS, where there is no box!
