Weekly Message December 15-19, 2014

Congratulations to all of our classroom spelling bee winners!   We have 12 students who will represent their grade level during our school-wide spelling bee on January 30, 2015. Study lists will be sent home with students this week so that they will have adequate time to prepare.

Parents of High School Advanced Placement students, don’t forget to check the College Board site regularly. The AP exams are required for students enrolled in these classes, and the College Board site has invaluable information regarding the assessment your child will participate in in May.

The end of the quarter is December 19th—now only 4 days away!    Remember that when the quarter ends, the teachers begin working on grades.  Please talk with your children and make sure that they are meeting all deadlines for assignments this week. Intersession runs December 22-January 9th. The building will be closed December 22-January 2.  The office will reopen on Monday, January 5th. Students and teachers will return to school on January 12, 2015.

SCS Saturday Academy will begin January 24th.  If your child is registered, you will receive written notification with bus routes and a reminder of the dates.

DPS will hold its spring AIG EXPO on January 27, 2015 at the Staff Development Center from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. Community organizations will be present to share information about summer opportunities. This event is for everyone not just AIG students and their parents!

When we return in January, we will be gearing up for ACCESS testing starting in February. We are looking for volunteers to assist. Please contact Sheila Miglarese if you are able to assist us.
