Good Evening SCS Families. This is Ms. Price your weekly message for the week of November 10th.
This is a reminder that there will be no school tomorrow Tuesday, November 11th—for the Veterans Day holiday. I speak for all of us at SCS in saying that we appreciate and honor our veterans!
Attention 7th grade parents: Information for Duke TIP went home before intersession with students who qualified. This does not affect all students, just those who received the application because they met selection criteria. If you have not already completed the information, please do so because the extended deadline is November 17th. If you have a child who has participated in the past, you will need to re-apply. Information has also been posted to the AIG website linked to our homepage. You may contact Mrs. Tuck Thomas for additional information.
As chilly weather is here, the SCS PTSA and Guidance staff are sponsoring a winter coat drive. Please consider helping local students by donating gently used coats and jackets. Donated items may be delivered to the guidance office at SCS. Thank you in advance for your generous donation.
We are in desperate need of volunteers for the state Cyclocross race Saturday, November 15th from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. SCS will gain great exposure and recognition by hosting this event, and we will all have the opportunity to be a part of it. Don’t miss this opportunity to cheer on the more than 400 racers from juniors to elite pro’s. You can get involved in several different ways. We need assistance with parking, club table set-up, logistics, concession stands, etc. Please contact Ms. Hundredmark for more details or to volunteer. Or you may choose to volunteer to help with the PTSA concession stand or donate items to sell. Sign-up is easy, just visit my blog for the link to sign-up if you’d like to participate in this option.
Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, November 19th. This is a PLC Early Release Day and school will be dismissed at 2:00 p.m.
It’s almost Spelling Bee season for our middle school students! Students will receive a copy of the Spelling Bee Study Words lists from their language arts teachers this week. Classroom spelling bees will be held the week of December 1st. Winners of classroom bees will compete in our schoolwide bee at the end of January. Students, start studying so we can celebrate the top spellers at SCS!
Remember that at SCS our mission is Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, and Community. Have a great evening!
