Connect-Ed Message 10/23/2014

Report cards and a packet of information will go home with students tomorrow October 24th. Please review and return a signed copy to your child’s homeroom teacher.  If your child is not doing well in a class, please contact the teacher and/or team for a conference. Our goal is for all students to be successful, and we have to work together to ensure this for each student.

Per the DPS Transportation Department, we can no longer approve bus passes for students to ride a bus home with a friend or get off at a different stop than usual if that stop is on a different bus than the student is currently assigned. The DPS Transportation Department has informed us that buses are at capacity and there are no vacant seats on afternoon buses for students to switch buses or ride home with a friend on a different bus. We will NOT be able to issue students bus passes for this type of afternoon transportation change and you will need to make other arrangements for your child’s alternate ride home. Your child can get off at a different stop than usual, if needed, as long as the bus they currently ride stops there already. Students will not be permitted to get off the bus at unauthorized stops.

Next week is Spirit Week. Demonstrate your school spirit by fashioning the most creative, outside the box costumes for each theme day.

Monday: Wacky Tacky Day (Mismatch, over-accessorize, color clash, etc.)

Tuesday: Twin Day (Find a partner and create a creative twin combo)

Wednesday: School Colors Day (To be perfectly accented with the hat of your choice for $1)

Thursday: Character Day (Be your favorite literary/film/mythological character)

Friday: Halloween costumes

*On no day is it permissible to wear a mask of any kind.  DPS Dress Code applies as usual!!!

Show your grade level’s competitive best through spirit week penny wars!  Starting Monday each grade level will have a jar in front of the main office.  Each penny gains a point for your grade level.  All nickels, dimes, quarters, and bills will subtract points from a grade level.  Which grade level will collaborate to outwit all others and be champions of the penny wars?!  All funds will go toward the SCS scholarship fund.

Remember that at SCS, our mission is the four C’s—Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, and Community. Have a great evening!
