Good Evening SCS Families. This is Ms. Price with your weekly message for the week of October 13th.
The Green Team is sponsoring a Fall Shoe Drive. We will be collecting pairs of shoes from now until Friday November 7th. Please put your donations in the collection boxes in the lobby. The shoes must be in pairs and in good condition. We cannot accept single shoes, skates, sandals, flip-flops, slippers, or damaged shoes. The shoes will be sent to TerraCycle who will reuse or recycle them. In return, TerraCycle will make a donation to our school. Fall Intercession would be a great time to clean out your closet and gather up your and your family shoes to donate to our Fall Shoe Drive when you return to school. Thank you!
If you are the parent of an 8th grade math student, Mr. Jackson is requesting 3 composition notebooks when students return to school and begin the next quarter. The interactive notebooks will be used to serve as a guide for later review. Students will be required to maintain a well-organized notebook to complete various assignments. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Jackson.
The Creative Studies make-up picture day will be Monday, October 20th, the day we return from intersession. The picture order forms were not delivered to our school in time to hand them out to students who needed them, so we have arranged for Strawbridge to pick up the orders later in the week of October 20th. Your child can have a picture retake done if the original pictures were ordered and paid for and did not turn out well when you received them. Students who were not in school on the original picture day may also have their picture taken October 20th. Students who want a retake must bring the original purchased photograph package back to the main office and take a new order envelope home. Retakes will not be permitted unless the student was absent or pictures were purchased originally that were not acceptable. If no photos were purchased on the first picture day, no retake will be done.
Report cards will go home with students on Friday, October 24th.
Students will learn about and celebrate Red Ribbon Week the week of October 20th. This week represents taking a stand against alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. It also means that people all over the country are dedicating themselves to healthy lifestyles. Students will have a chance to create a public service announcement based on what it means to be alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs-free and win prizes for most creative public service announcement.
Remember that at SCS, our mission is the four C’s—Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, and Community. Have a great evening and wonderful final week of intersession. We’ll see everyone next Monday, October 20th!
